Egyptian young artist Amira Adeeb sparked widespread controversy after reports and news circulated in recent hours concerning her testimony at a "marriage between two men" among her friends.

Adeeb posted a video on her social media accounts to clarify what she considered a "misunderstanding" raised recently about an occasion she celebrated with her friends.

In the video, Adeeb said: "My friends and I were talking about marriage and celebrating it, limiting the celebration of wedding anniversaries to romantic relationships between married couples, and the necessity of celebrating other relationships such as friendship."

She added: "We decided to hold parties for friends similar to weddings, but linked to relationships. We also decided to hold a wedding-like celebration for my friends who have lived together for 15 years, as a documentation of their friendship."

On her Instagram account, Adeeb wrote: "I would like to clarify that the misunderstanding raised recently about one of the occasions I celebrated with my friends has been fully clarified, and the official statement was published through my social media accounts."

She stated: "I affirm that I will no longer allow the circulation or publication of incorrect information, misleading news, or fragmented content that is distorted or presented out of context, which harms me or my family members."

She continued: "From this standpoint, any insult, false or deliberate claims, or republication of misleading information after the truth has been clarified, will be dealt with through necessary legal procedures, to protect my rights and those of my family. I appreciate everyone who verifies accuracy and respects the truth before publishing, and I hope everyone exercises responsibility and precision in what is circulated and published. Thank you."
