Didem Soydan revealed that she forgot about a Bitcoin investment made in 2012 for a full four years following her relocation to New York. The model stated that upon finally regaining access to the account, her sister reacted by saying, "Sister, we are rich."

The Initial Investment and Move

Soydan first encountered cryptocurrency in 2012 through advice from her boyfriend at the time. She downloaded the relevant application and deposited funds to purchase Bitcoin shortly before moving abroad. Just ten days after making the investment, she relocated to New York, leaving behind both her mobile phone and Turkish SIM card.

Life continued in the United States, causing the former model to completely forget the existence of the digital asset. For several years, no login attempts were made on the account. The oversight persisted until a dinner conversation reignited her memory of the transaction.

Accessing the Dormant Account

During the meal, the topic of Bitcoin arose, reminding Soydan of her earlier purchase. She attempted to log in but faced a significant barrier: the verification code required for access was sent to the Turkish phone line she had abandoned years prior. Regaining entry to the account proved difficult, requiring approximately three to four days of effort.

Once logged in, the balance became visible. Her sister’s immediate response to seeing the figures was the declaration that they had achieved wealth. The incident highlights the challenges of managing digital assets across international moves and changing communication infrastructure.
