Faruk Turgut, the producer of the television series Kızılcık Şerbeti, addressed questions regarding his absence from the funeral of actress Ece İrtem. During an appearance on a YouTube program, Turgut explained that he did not feel a level of personal relationship warranting attendance at the ceremony.

Producer's explanation for absence

Turgut responded to inquiries about why no members of the show’s crew attended the service by stating, “I didn’t go either; I didn’t think I had enough of a bond to go.” He elaborated on this sentiment during the interview, emphasizing that attending without a genuine connection would be meaningless.

The producer suggested that the location of the funeral may have influenced the crew’s decision. He noted that if the ceremony had taken place in Istanbul rather than Kuşadası, some team members might have participated. However, he maintained that showing up solely for camera visibility serves no purpose if there is no substantive action or relationship behind it.

Reflections on İrtem’s work and death

Ece İrtem, who portrayed the character Işıl in Kızılcık Şerbeti, died on June 15 at the age of 35. Turgut acknowledged the tragedy of her passing, describing it as a young death and expressing condolences to her family. He stated, “Of course, I was sad, a young death. May God give patience to her family; it is difficult at that age.”

Turgut highlighted that İrtem worked with the production team for nearly one year. He praised her professional conduct, noting that she was disciplined and performed well on set. According to the producer, she created a beautiful character within the series and maintained good working relationships during her tenure.

When asked about the broader concept of loyalty in the industry, Turgut questioned where such values truly exist. His comments focused on the practical reality of their professional interaction, which lasted approximately twelve months, rather than implying any deeper personal friendship that would necessitate presence at the burial site.
