Goth cites safety fears to block in-person deposition in assault suit

Court filings reveal that actress Mia Goth is seeking a remote deposition in the ongoing lawsuit brought by actor James Hunter. The request stems from what she describes as genuine safety and privacy risks associated with an in-person proceeding.

Reasons for Remote Deposition Request

Documents obtained by People indicate that Goth’s legal team argues against physical attendance due to Hunter’s conduct during the litigation process. In a formal declaration, the actress stated her position clearly regarding the potential dangers of an on-site interview.

“Based on my understanding of Plaintiff’s conduct, including efforts to publicize allegations against me, obtain information concerning my private life, locate my residence, and engage with individuals associated with this litigation at their homes, I have a genuine and reasonable concern for my safety and privacy if my deposition is conducted in person,” Goth wrote.

She further explained that a virtual format would still allow Hunter to secure all testimony he is legally entitled to receive. According to her filing, this approach would significantly mitigate the specific security and privacy issues she has raised.

Allegations of Stalking and Publicity

The declaration alleges that Hunter attempted to amplify his claims through social media channels. Goth expressed worry that his interest in her personal affairs extends beyond the scope of the legal dispute itself.

She noted that Hunter’s behavior has caused “significant concern regarding my privacy and personal security.” Specifically, the actress claimed that the plaintiff tried to uncover details about her home address.

Details of the Assault Claim

Hunter’s original complaint asserts that Goth nearly stepped on him during a filming take. He also mentioned starting his acting career at a young age and reported the initial incident to the assistant director.

Furthermore, Hunter alleges that during the subsequent take, Goth intentionally kicked him in the head. These claims form the basis of the civil action currently being litigated.
