Hannah Berner to Host Paramount+ Dating Series ‘Making Love’ in Early 2027

Paramount+ has announced that comedian and podcaster Hannah Berner, 35, will host its new dating series *Making Love*, scheduled for release in early 2027.

The announcement came during the August 25 episode of Berner’s podcast *Giggly Squad*, co-hosted by Paige DeSorbo. Berner confirmed the role live, telling listeners: “So, anyway, early 2027, mark your calendars. Yes, I’m hosting a dating reality show called *Making Love*. I’m entering my matchmaker era.”

What is *Making Love*?

According to the official release, *Making Love* is “a bold new relationship experiment which gives singles a completely original and unique opportunity to take destiny into their own hands. Can you actually find the person you’ve always dreamed of? With Berner steering the ship — equal parts hype woman, hilarious hall monitor, and hopeless romantic — expect the drama, the swoons, and the one-liners to hit different.”

Berner on Hosting, Casting, and Confidence

DeSorbo joked on *Giggly Squad*: “The marketing team had no idea what they were in for when they were like, ‘Who should we cast? Oh, Hannah Berner. Hannah Berner seems like a good host for the show.’ And they’re like, ‘Great. She’s got a podcast. She can talk about it on her podcast.’ Never did they think that their show would be getting watched based on Hannah’s botch plastic surgery.”

Berner responded: “When I tell you I can’t move my mouth until maybe episode six, slightly. I mean, the first… and let me tell you, the team behind this show is the team behind *Love is Blind*, *Married at First Sight*. Like, these are the real deal. Like, I’m not doing a dating reality show unless it’s like the [creme de la creme].”

She added: “So these people were really – they knew what they were doing. They knew how to do a hit show, and I was sitting in my trailer, and I’m like, I’m going to ruin everyone’s day. Like, I was just scared I was getting fired. So the good news is I didn’t get fired.”

The Show’s Core Concept

Berner described the format: “It’s this really fun concept, I’m obsessed with it, where what if you could create your fantasy partner. So, they basically had people come in with a list, whatever they wanted. It’s their fantasy, and then they went out and found that person to see if they actually would fall in love. If you found someone who checked every box on your list. But then also that fantasy person that comes in gets to create their own fantasy person. So it was f-cking crazy. Once everyone comes in and they’re like, ‘That’s your perfect person. That’s what you’ve been waiting for. Is this going to be the love of your life now?’”

She explained her motivation: “I also decided I wanted to do this because I obviously have taken a break from reality and I wanted to wait for the perfect opportunity to get involved as a host being in full control, minus my emotions and smile. Um, and I love love. I am a romantic. I love love.”

On her on-set role, Berner said: “By the end, I felt connected to everyone in a certain way ’cause you guys know how I speak to men. Some of these men I whipped into shape, like from the very beginning, some guy was like trying to be funny, chatty chat. I said, ‘That’s not how we’re doing it in this house.’ I felt like the substitute teacher who was like, I don’t know who you’ve been talking to previously this year, but I don’t f-ck with this sh-t. And then by the end, like once you get them to like you, then they open up. And that was the most fun part.”

She continued: “I had so much fun making them laugh, but then I saw some of these people find love. I saw some of these people get their f-cking heart shattered on TV. And there’s moments, you know, when you’re a host, like you’re standing there, they’re changing positions with cameras, and they make eye contact with me like I’m their big sister. And I was like, I gave them a thumbs up, like you’re doing great, like trust yourself. I don’t know. It was a little healing for me to be back in that place and see people on reality TV.”

Contrasting formats, Berner noted: “A dating competition is so different than a Bravo show. I think what’s so cool about this show is a lot of people are like, ‘Well, I haven’t met my dream person.’ They’re like, ‘Okay, here it is. Here’s your dream person. We looked all over America, and we f-cking found that person, plus more and better. Can you make them? Can you actually – is that your person? Can you fall in love with them?’ And it made people question what they thought they wanted. And I got to kind of challenge people’s beliefs and be like, ‘So, you said you wanted a guy like this, but he’s like this. Does that mean you’re not going to give him a chance? Like, if he has a slightly different spiritual belief, or if he’s a different nationality than you thought.’”

She concluded: “I think the show is going to be game-changing, epic, and just challenges all your beliefs of like, if you could create your perfect person, your fantasy person, would you actually fall in love? I’m so excited to see your looks.”

Berner and DeSorbo are also developing their own scripted comedy series.
