Prince Harry secured a $250,000 fee for his grief-focused MasterClass by agreeing to discuss Princess Diana while excluding Prince William and Kate Middleton.

A guaranteed payment of $250,000 accompanied Prince Harry’s participation in the “MasterClass” platform, a figure significantly higher than standard rates for celebrity instructors. While this sum reflects the premium placed on his personal narrative, the agreement came with specific restrictions regarding which family members could be mentioned during the sessions.
Rob Shuter, writing in his Naughty But Nice newsletter, noted that typical “MasterClass” educators earn approximately $150,000. Sources indicated that Harry negotiated well above this baseline, with one insider stating, “Harry isn’t an ordinary celebrity guest.” The elevated fee was directly linked to a particular condition: Harry agreed to speak about his late mother, Princess Diana, as part of the deal.
Despite the focus on grief and loss, clear boundaries were established regarding other royals. “Harry was willing to talk about Diana, grief and losing his mother,” the insider explained. However, discussions involving Prince William, Catherine, or Uncle Andrew were strictly prohibited. Consequently, any dynamics between Harry and his brother or sister-in-law remained entirely absent from the recorded lessons.
The episode reportedly featured intimate disclosures within these permitted topics. Harry revealed that he regularly converses with a portrait of Diana, wondering what she would think of his current life. He admitted to thinking about her almost every night and most mornings. These statements follow previous public accounts found in his memoir “Spare,” Netflix documentaries, and various interviews concerning his mother’s death.
A royal source told Shuter that this project differs from prior endeavors because “Harry has already told much of his story.” The same source observed that “Diana remains the one subject audiences will always pay to hear him discuss.” Another insider framed the substantial fee as part of the Sussexes’ evolving business strategy, clarifying, “Harry isn’t selling royal secrets this time. He’s selling his own memories.”
