Meredith Marks Defends Privacy Amid RHOSLC Season 7 Marital Strains

Separation and divorce are not unexpected outcomes for reality television cast members, according to Meredith Marks. During a September interview with Bravo Insider, the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star addressed the relationship struggles impacting several colleagues in Season 7. She argued that these personal matters should remain private rather than being forced into public discourse.

Why Relationship Drama Stays Private

Marks stated she was unsurprised by the current season's marital difficulties. "I’m never surprised," she said regarding her co-stars' marriages. She noted that viewers rarely have full visibility into what occurs behind closed doors. "It’s never a surprise, quite frankly, for somebody to say they’re separated or getting a divorce," Marks added. She observed that individuals navigate relationship problems through different methods.

The cast member emphasized that some people openly discuss their partnerships while others choose discretion. Marks rejected any pressure on colleagues to share their marriage drama onscreen. "People should handle their own marriages as they see fit," she explained. She further clarified that there is no obligation for cast members to reveal specific details. "There’s no rule that you have to do this, or have to do that," Marks continued, stressing that each person decides how much to disclose.

Communication Key To Long Marriage

Marks drew from her own experience during her marriage to Seth Marks, a union spanning more than three decades. She identified communication as essential for maintaining their relationship. Recalling a period when their partnership nearly ended, she admitted, "When we almost filed for divorce," their communication had "completely broken." Marks believes improved dialogue could preserve many relationships.

"And so that’s, to me, the key to every good, positive, healthy marriage," Marks explained. She encouraged couples to develop better communication techniques. Outside of their busy schedules, Marks and Seth maintain a relatively low-key lifestyle. She described preferring quiet time together over high-profile activities.

"My favorite thing to do with Seth is just go for a walk somewhere," Marks said. They might then find a restaurant for dinner. Her comments provide perspective on the season's relationship drama, reinforcing her support for giving co-stars privacy when needed.
