Nesreen Taafsheh: No Regrets on Divorce, Open to Remarriage
Syrian actress Nesreen Taafsheh stated she does not regret past marriages and remains open to remarrying if intellectual compatibility exists.

Syrian artist Nesreen Taafsheh confirmed that her previous marital experiences have not led to regret regarding the institution of marriage. She emphasized that she does not rule out repeating the experience in the future.
Perspective on Marriage and Divorce
In a television interview, Taafsheh discussed her recent separation from Egyptian businessman Ahmed Johar, addressing rumors linking the divorce to jealousy. She also shared her views on marital relationships, her stance on personal life rumors, and key moments from her artistic career and beginnings in Syrian drama.
Taafsheh clarified that she feels no remorse over her past unions, viewing marriage as a beautiful experience capable of providing happiness and stability. She stated she would not object to trying again if she meets a partner with whom she shares intellectual and human compatibility.
The actress stressed the importance of women having the freedom to make personal decisions based on their own convictions, away from social pressures and expectations from those around them. She noted that entering into marriage should stem from genuine desire rather than responding to societal demands.
She explained that the relationship between men and women is not built on conflict but on integration and understanding. Taafsheh considered harmony between partners to be one of the most important pillars for the success and stability of married life.
Additionally, she mentioned that she does not allow gossip to influence her decisions as long as they are made from personal conviction. She pointed out that life experiences provide individuals with greater opportunities to understand themselves and others.
Clarifying Rumors About Jealousy
Taafsheh addressed the controversy surrounding the reasons for her separation from Ahmed Johar, specifically whether jealousy played a role in ending the marriage.
She indicated that jealousy may exist among some men in Eastern societies, but the nature of artistic work and its conditions can pose challenges for spouses who find it difficult to understand this field.
The actress denied that jealousy was the primary cause of the divorce. She affirmed that the end of a marital relationship does not necessarily mean the failure of the human connection between the parties. In some cases, separation may be the best option to preserve mutual respect and positive memories.
Taafsheh explained that the success of a marriage is not necessarily linked to its lifelong continuation but depends on the nature of the relationship and the level of compatibility and psychological comfort it provides. She noted that the public is not aware of all private details governing marital relationships.
She criticized social pressures that push some people to remain in unhappy relationships due to fear of how others view divorce. Taafsheh believed these fears can make the decision to separate more difficult, even when the relationship becomes burdensome for both parties.
Impact of Social Media and Career Beginnings
Regarding rumors surrounding her marriage to Ahmed Johar, Taafsheh clarified that news of the separation began spreading from the start of the marriage. She confirmed that the announcement of the divorce came only after it actually occurred, as stated during the interview.
She noted that rumors and attacks faced by artists on social media platforms have become challenges accompanying life in the spotlight, given the rapid spread of unverified information about their private lives.
Taafsheh emphasized that dealing with such talk has become part of the reality of artistic work, especially when it concerns celebrities' personal relationships and is circulated without full knowledge of the details or verification of accuracy.
Beyond her personal life, the actress recalled memories of her early artistic beginnings. She described the first years of her career as among the most difficult stages she experienced, despite collaborating with prominent names in Syrian drama during that period.
She indicated that her journey included collaborations with directors Laith Hajjo, Al-Muthana Sobh, and Hatem Ali, alongside artists Jamal Suleiman and Rasha Sherbetji. Taafsheh affirmed that these experiences contributed to developing her talent and provided significant opportunities early in her professional life.
She also spoke about the role of her studies at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus in shaping her artistic identity. She explained that she received education from several professors and artists, including Ghassan Masoud, Faiz Qazqaz, and Jamal Suleiman.
Taafsheh added that combining academic study with talent helped her develop her acting tools and enhanced her ability to choose roles suitable for her artistic capabilities.
