More than $275,000 in unreimbursed expenses lies at the heart of a legal dispute involving Nicki Minaj and production company 24/7 Productions. The suit alleges that Minaj’s team questioned whether Republic Records’ $250,000 allowance for her New York promotional week was sufficient — calling it “extremely low” in an email dated November 29, 2023.
What the alleged emails reveal about budget shortfalls
According to TMZ, 24/7 Productions submitted the email as evidence in its lawsuit against Minaj and her company, Pink Friday Productions. The firm states it advanced over $275,000 for hotels, travel, staffing, and production services related to Minaj’s Jingle Ball 2023 performance and a dedicated week of Pink Friday 2 promotion in New York — and has not been repaid.
The November 29, 2023, email included a warning that the $250,000 allocation “will cost her at least double that,” with “hotels and transportation alone [set to] eat up the whole amount.”
Projected costs detailed in the message included $3,000 per day for a videographer and photographer — totaling $18,000 across six days — and $700 per day for a seamstress or tailor, amounting to $4,200 over the same period.
Travel logistics also raised concerns. The email noted that “without her son, her normal plane rider is always over $2K each leg,” and questioned whether the $10,000 travel allowance would cover flights, ground transport, and multi-day hotel stays.
Contractual responsibility and Minaj’s legal response
24/7 Productions asserts it was hired to manage on-site operations, travel coordination, and staffing for both the Jingle Ball appearance and the Pink Friday 2 promotional week. TMZ reported Minaj received $650,000 for her Jingle Ball 2023 performance.
Minaj has moved to dismiss the lawsuit, arguing the contract was between 24/7 Productions and Pink Friday Productions — not her personally. She requested the court remove her as a defendant.
The litigation remains active, with the alleged November 2023 email serving as a focal point for 24/7 Productions’ claim that it incurred substantial, unreimbursed costs during the Pink Friday 2 promotional campaign.
