Prince Harry’s children, Archie and Lilibet, reportedly have limited awareness of the royal family and their place within it, according to a recent report. This information comes amid speculation about whether the children will travel to the U.K. soon.

Understanding of Royal Family by Archie and Lilibet

HELLO! Magazine states that while Archie and Lilibet are “very excited” about the possibility of meeting their grandfather, King Charles, they do not fully grasp who their royal relatives are or what their roles entail. The children have been raised by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as “normal little kids” in Montecito, California, which contributes to their lack of awareness about the monarchy.

The publication notes that the 7-year-old Archie and 5-year-old Lilibet anticipate a holiday and potentially meeting their grandfather during a trip to the U.K. next week, but they do not recognize him as the head of the monarchy. A source close to the Sussex family told HELLO! that the children “don’t really have any concept about who they (the royal family) are,” and that their parents have deliberately kept them distanced from royal life.

Previous Family Encounters and Travel Plans

King Charles last saw his grandchildren in Britain during Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. Archie was born in the U.K. in 2019, at a time when his parents were still senior royals, allowing him a brief period with the royal family. Lilibet, born in California in June 2021 after Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties, has only met her grandfather in person during a visit to the U.K. in 2022.

Currently, it appears Prince Harry will travel to the U.K. alone due to ongoing security disagreements. Meghan Markle and their children are not expected to accompany him to London, and it remains uncertain if they will join him elsewhere in the country.
