Reba McEntire Says Melissa Peterman Shared Kelly Clarkson Feud Details
Reba McEntire revealed she learned about Kelly Clarkson’s dispute with Art of Play from co-star Melissa Peterman while promoting Happy’s Place.

Reba McEntire has addressed her awareness of the ongoing conflict between her longtime friend and former stepdaughter-in-law, Kelly Clarkson, and the toy retailer Art of Play. The country music icon stated that she had not been following the situation closely until recently.
Source of Reba’s Information
While engaged in promotional activities for the third season of her NBC comedy series Happy’s Place, McEntire disclosed that she first heard about the drama inside a makeup trailer. She confirmed this timeline to E! News, noting, “No, I haven’t. I just heard about it in the makeup trailer a while ago.”
Melissa Peterman, who serves as both a co-star on the show and a long-time friend of McEntire, identified herself as the person who relayed the news. Peterman explained that the information reached her despite her limited engagement with current events due to a demanding work schedule.
“Oh, I knew about it. I think I was the one that told you because again, we’ve had such long busy days. And I said it must be really out there if I heard about it because I’ve been not watching a ton of stuff and I’ve been working so much,” Peterman said. McEntire subsequently agreed that Peterman was indeed the source of her knowledge regarding the feud.
History Between McEntire and Clarkson
The relationship between McEntire and Clarkson extends beyond their professional circles, spanning more than two decades. Their connection was also solidified through family ties at a previous point in time.
Clarkson was married to Brandon Blackstock, who passed away. During that period, McEntire was married to Brandon’s father, Narvel Blackstock. This union made Clarkson McEntire’s former stepdaughter-in-law, establishing a personal link that predates the current public dispute.
Earlier this month, Clarkson utilized the social media platform Twitter/X to criticize Art of Play, alleging poor customer service practices. The resulting exchange has drawn attention from various figures in the entertainment industry, including those close to Clarkson.
