Denise Richards has expressed willingness to rejoin the main cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills following a multi-year absence. The actress attributes her initial exit from the Bravo reality series partly to the influence of her former spouse, Aaron Phypers, while also reflecting on the isolation she experienced during her first tenure on the show.

Richards Cites Ex-Husband’s Role in Departure

Speaking on The Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg Show, Richards addressed speculation about a potential comeback. “Yeah! Actually, I did some episodes last season. But yeah, I would,” she stated. Her history with the franchise includes serving as a regular cast member during seasons 9 and 10. She departed after a storyline involving an alleged encounter with Brandi Glanville developed, though she later returned for guest appearances in seasons 13 and 15.

The actress described her earlier time on the series as challenging, noting that she felt largely disliked by the group. “It was a hard thing,” she explained, adding that Garcelle Beauvais was among the few exceptions who liked her. This sense of alienation contributed to her decision not to sign on for a third season. Richards further identified Phypers as a significant reason for stepping away from the production.

“He was a big part of me not going back,” Richards said regarding her ex-husband. She suggested that Phypers may have been concerned about what the show might reveal about him. The couple separated in July 2024, subsequently entering a contentious divorce process marked by legal disputes over finances and property, alongside mutual allegations of domestic violence.

As Richards considers a return to television, her legal conflict with Phypers continues. A five-year restraining order currently mandates that Phypers remain at least 100 yards away from her. In February, a court ordered Richards to pay $25,000 toward his legal fees, plus $5,000 for a forensic accountant and $5,000 per month in temporary spousal support. Meanwhile, filming for season 16 of RHOBH is underway, featuring new cast members Leah Remini and Tracy Tutor.
