A fan observation regarding an Instagram unfollow prompted Scheana Shay to address tensions in her friendship with The Valley star Janet Caperna. The Vanderpump Rules alum noted that she had not initially realized the social media disconnect until viewers pointed it out.

Boundaries cited as source of friction

On the September 25 episode of Scheananigans, Shay responded to inquiries about her relationship with Caperna. She stated that she does not typically monitor follower counts or notice when individuals unfollow her accounts. "I have a lot of followers, and that’s not something I notice," Shay said. "And honestly, I don’t really want to get into the specifics of that today."

She elaborated on the broader context of her recent interactions. "There are a number of people who I have set boundaries with in the past year of my life, and not everyone responds well to those boundaries," Shay explained. "I’ve learned a lot more about this. So, I’m just going to leave that there for now."

History of betrayal allegations

The apparent strain marks a shift in a long-standing connection between the two women. Caperna first met Shay at the Mondrian in 2017, shortly after relocating to Los Angeles following her divorce from her first husband. Shay quickly became one of Caperna’s initial friends in the city.

However, Shay reportedly felt betrayed when Caperna disclosed private details concerning Shay’s marriage. According to Shay, Caperna informed Brittany Cartwright that Brock Davies had cheated on her with a mutual friend while Shay was pregnant in 2020. Shay and Davies married privately on August 23, 2022, keeping the news from most friends and family for nearly a year. Davies later acknowledged his infidelity amid rumors of an alleged relationship with Rachel Leviss in 2023.

Caperna was not the sole individual to share these private details. Another former friend, Lala Kent, also discussed the information with Jenna Willis, who was on bad terms with Shay at the time.
