Shakira describes the divorce from Gerard Piqué as the darkest moment in her life, coinciding with caring for her injured father.

Colombian singer Shakira has shared new insights about her separation from Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué, describing that period as one of the most challenging in her personal life. The revelations come as Piqué appeared with Clara Chía at a concert in Barcelona.
The couple announced their breakup in 2022 after an 11-year relationship that produced two children. Their separation attracted significant attention over an extended period, particularly amid reports of infidelity and speculation that one of Shakira’s famous songs was a direct message to Piqué.
In a recent interview with The Times, Shakira characterized the divorce experience as the "darkest moment" she has endured. She explained that this difficult phase coincided with her caring for her father, who suffered a severe injury from a fall.
The Colombian artist stated that the harsh experience strengthened her and made her wiser, emphasizing that hardship reveals a person’s resilience and increases appreciation for genuine support from loved ones.
She also noted that life comprises both difficult and bright moments, expressing gratitude even for painful experiences that have taught her valuable lessons.
Shakira affirmed that she continues to hold respect for the father of her children, acknowledging that their relationship played a significant role in shaping her identity as a mother.
Regarding her current romantic life, she indicated that she does not have time to pursue a new relationship due to her numerous commitments.
Meanwhile, Gerard Piqué was seen this week in Barcelona attending the second concert of the artist Bad Bunny at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, accompanied by Clara Chía.
Piqué’s appearance coincided with the release of Shakira’s new music video for the song "Day Day," which is connected to the 2026 World Cup and features collaboration with Burna Boy.
Social media users shared photos and videos of Piqué at the concert, coinciding with the launch of the new song, amid widespread speculation about indirect messages and references to him within the music video.
Despite the circulating discussions, the former Barcelona player appeared to enjoy the concert atmosphere in a private area alongside his former teammate Riqui Puig.
