14-Year-Old Moscow Girl Allegedly Faked Bleeding
A Moscow family spent more than a year and a half seeking answers after their 14-year-old daughter began bleeding and doctors found nothing.

For more than a year and a half, a Moscow couple tried to find out why their 14-year-old daughter was bleeding. The mother said the symptoms began suddenly and then got worse over time.
Doctors repeatedly examined the girl after her parents took her to emergency care several times. She had checkups, ultrasounds, endoscopies and colonoscopies, all of which came back fine, and cancer markers were also tested but the result was negative.
At one stage, the mother said the girl was “bleeding from everywhere”, including her nose, eyes, ears, chest, uterus and even her belly button. The family later noticed that the episodes followed a pattern tied to the school calendar.
According to Mash, the symptoms would appear around the start of the school year in September, ease during school holidays and disappear completely over the summer. The parents then concluded that their daughter was faking the condition to avoid going to school.
The girl’s mother, however, still does not accept that her child would harm herself and then smear blood all over to make it look as if she were bleeding from all orifices. She continues to see doctors in the hope of finding another explanation.

Some experts suspect the teenager may have Munchausen syndrome, a condition in which people deliberately induce symptoms of illness to gain care and attention from others. Despite missing most classes for the last year and a half, she has not been expelled from school yet.
