A limited-time viewing window has opened for audiences interested in Mike Flanagan’s latest supernatural horror adaptation. The complete inaugural installment of Carrie, a reimagining of Stephen King’s classic tale, is currently accessible without cost via Prime Video’s official YouTube channel.

This complimentary access expires at 11:59 PM PT on November 1. Following this deadline, viewers will need to subscribe to the streaming service to continue watching the series, which debuted its full eight-episode run on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

Adaptation Background and Crew

Flanagan developed this miniseries, marking it as the fourth screen interpretation of King’s 1974 novel. The director and writer holds a prominent reputation in the genre, having previously helmed acclaimed productions such as The Haunting of Hill House, The Midnight Club, and The Fall of the House of Usher.

The narrative centers on Carrie White, a teenage girl living in isolation under the control of her domineering mother. After her father dies mysteriously, she enters high school, where she confronts typical adolescent struggles alongside severe bullying incidents.

As these pressures mount, Carrie’s latent telekinetic abilities intensify, culminating in the catastrophic outburst that defines the original story. Summer H. Howell portrays the title character, supported by a cast including Samantha Sloyan, Siena Agudong, Alison Thornton, Joel Oulette, Josie Totah, and Arthur Conti.

Critical Reception and Author Commentary

Upon release, the series garnered widespread praise, particularly for the performances of Howell and Sloyan. Critics also commended Flanagan’s modern approach to the iconic source material. Currently, Carrie maintains an 85% critics score and an 82% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Stephen King himself addressed the adaptation on X, highlighting his confidence in Flanagan’s direction. “It was directed by Mike Flanagan, and he is the best adapter of my work,” King wrote. He further teased potential future collaborations, stating, “And if you like this and enough people watch it, he might be doing something else that’s really special. But I can’t talk about it. Shhhh. Molly, be quiet. Okay?”
