Defenders Rumored for Secret Wars After Daredevil Season 3, not Spider-Man
A social media leak suggests the Defenders will appear in Secret Wars, potentially following the conclusion of Daredevil: Born Again.

Marvel Studios may be positioning its street-level heroes for a major crossover event. Recent online chatter indicates that members of the Defenders could feature in the upcoming Secret Wars film, rather than appearing in the next Spider-Man installment as previously speculated by some fans.
Leak Points to Secret Wars Inclusion
The speculation originated from a post on X by user @MyTimetoShineHello, who stated, “Some of the Defendera [Defenders] will be in Secret Wars”. The account did not specify which characters are involved, and Marvel has issued no official comment regarding this claim. If accurate, this would mark the team’s significant return after the third season of Daredevil: Born Again concludes.
A central uncertainty remains whether Matt Murdock is among the heroes slated for the project. The source did not confirm his inclusion, and details about the character’s arc in Season 3 have not been publicly released. While a potential Avengers alliance in Secret Wars is possible, it has not been verified.
Season 3 Reunion Expectations
Current indicators suggest the Defenders are reassembling on screen prior to any movie appearances. Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 is projected to premiere in March 2027, aligning with the release schedule of the first two seasons. Luke Cage returned during the Season 2 finale, marking his first MCU appearance since 2018.
Additionally, leaked set photographs hint at a full reunion involving Finn Jones’ Danny Rand, also known as Iron Fist. The group last appeared together in Netflix’s 2017 series. This specific lineup remains unconfirmed by Marvel, keeping the status of the Defenders’ return unofficial for now.
Cox Advocates for Larger Crossovers
Charlie Cox has expressed interest in expanding Murdock’s role within the broader cinematic universe. In comments to TheWrap, the actor discussed a desire for the character to interact with major figures, specifically mentioning a scenario where he crosses paths “with all of the Avengers, with Spider-Man as Daredevil, rather than as Matt Murdock”.
The current standing of the character supports arguments for increased prominence. Until further announcements are made, the focus remains on how Season 3 defines the trajectory for Murdock and the rest of the street-level team.
