Emmy Rossum Confirms Return as Alice in Furious Season 2

Emmy Rossum will reprise her role as Alice in the upcoming second season of Furious, the Hulu series whose first-season finale aired earlier this week.

Hulu renewed the show for a second season just prior to the debut of that finale episode.

In interviews with Variety and Collider, Rossum and series creator Elizabeth Meriwether discussed casting plans for Season 2 — confirming some actors’ returns and signaling uncertainty about others.

Cast Confirmation and Uncertainty

Rossum affirmed her continued involvement, stating directly to Variety: “For as long as Liz will write her!” She tied her participation explicitly to Meriwether’s ongoing creative leadership.

Meriwether, when asked about the future of Danny — portrayed by Scoot McNairy — responded: “Well, you’re asking really good questions that I am asking myself, in my classic process where I don’t have a plan for the future. What happens in Season 1 works for Season 1 and the characters, and I’m trying to figure out what the future would be. And I don’t know yet!”

Rossum elaborated on Danny’s trajectory, describing him as “wonderful and kind” but ultimately limited in his capacity to sustain a relationship with Alice given her history of chaos and pain. She recounted an imagined line from the character: “I don’t want to keep looking at that. Like, ‘I gotta go.’”

The discussion centered on Alice and Danny’s dynamic, supporting the inference that McNairy remains part of Season 2’s planned ensemble.

Nora’s Role Expands

Quincy Tyler Bernstine, who plays Nora, spoke separately with Collider about her character’s potential arc. Bernstine expressed curiosity about Nora’s background: “I’m actually very curious about her history, like where she has come from, how she got to C20. I don’t know what it looks like, but I would be curious to see what picture Liz and the other writers might paint, as far as that goes.”

Catherine’s Absence Expected

When Variety raised the possibility of Catherine — played by Lola Petticrew — maintaining contact with Alice, Meriwether replied: “I don’t know if we would get Lola back, honestly.”

She added: “I do think a hypothetical next season would pick up in C20 with Nora, working on a new case.”
