Heatwave in Japan Causes 287 Sunstroke Cases Amid Warnings in 41 Prefectures

The Tokyo Fire Department reported that 287 individuals have suffered from sunstroke during a severe heatwave affecting Japan's capital.

According to the Fire Department, as cited by Japan's NHK broadcaster, patients aged between 3 and 10 years old exhibiting sunstroke symptoms were hospitalized in Tokyo, with ten of them in critical condition.

The Japan Meteorological Agency issued warnings about dangerously high temperatures continuing today across extensive areas of the country. It also alerted residents to the risk of sunstroke in 41 out of 47 prefectures, spanning from the Tohoku region to Okinawa Prefecture.

The agency advised citizens to avoid prolonged outdoor exposure, use air conditioning, and maintain adequate hydration.
