In a shocking incident reported by the Times of India, a newlywed woman allegedly poisoned her husband and his parents just two days after their wedding. The suspect fled the scene accompanied by a female relative, but police apprehended both women later that same day in a neighboring village.

The Arranged Marriage Setup

The victim, a 32-year-old man, had married a 25-year-old woman from another Indian state through an intermediary. The total cost of the marriage arrangement was approximately $2,600. The bride arrived at the home with the relative who would later be detained alongside her.

Poisoning and Hospitalization

Initial investigations indicate that the two women placed rat poison into the food consumed by the husband and his parents. All three victims suffered severe poisoning symptoms and were transported to a hospital in Jalgaon district for medical treatment.

Police Investigation and Fraud Suspicions

Following the poisoning, the bride and her companion stole money from the household and escaped. Authorities are currently investigating the role of the intermediary who facilitated the marriage. Police are also verifying whether the two women are part of a broader network specializing in marriage fraud, with suspected operations extending across multiple Indian states.
