Iraq Seizes Gold Bars at Relative's Home of Oil Ministry Official Adnan Al-Jumaili

Iraqi security forces uncovered a substantial quantity of gold bars and jewelry buried at the residence of a relative of Adnan Al-Jumaili, the detained Deputy Minister of Oil, according to Iraqi media reports.

Samaraa TV cited an informed source stating that an anti-corruption unit in Salahuddin province found about 60 kilograms of gold bars and ornaments.

The discovery occurred in the garage of a house belonging to a relative of Adnan Al-Jumaili, located in the Al-Qudat neighborhood of Tikrit, with the gold reportedly buried underground.

Earlier this month, on July 16, Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council announced the seizure of cash totaling 25 billion Iraqi dinars and valuable items during ongoing investigations into the case against Adnan Al-Jumaili, who serves as Deputy Minister of Oil for Liquidation Affairs.

The council explained in a statement that those involved employed sophisticated secret methods to conceal these assets. Part of the confiscated money was found deposited with several individuals to mislead oversight authorities, while the remainder was hidden professionally within walls and cavities of multiple residential buildings searched during inspection campaigns.

These recoveries are part of one of the largest corruption cases pursued by the Iraqi judiciary in recent years, which began following the arrest of Adnan Al-Jumaili on May 30, 2026.
