Mackenzie Shirilla Called Herself Third Victim in Fatal Crash, Told Mom
Mackenzie Shirilla told her mother in jail she considered herself the third victim in the crash that killed two passengers in her car.

Mackenzie Shirilla described herself as the third victim in a fatal car accident during a jail phone call with her mother, expressing a desire to testify at her murder trial to share her perspective.
In the undated audio obtained by PEOPLE, Shirilla questions her defense team's choice to prevent her from taking the stand. She told her mother, "I was asking him if I could just testify to show them that like, I have nothing to hide, and he was like 'I don't know if that's a good idea at this point.'"
She added, "If they see the truth, then they'll know that this was nothing but a car accident. They'll just see that there's a third victim, and it's me, and I lost the love of my life and a good friend, and now I have to deal with this grief the rest of my life."
Shirilla was convicted of murdering Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan, who were passengers in her car when she crashed head-first into a brick building at more than 100 miles per hour in July 2022.
The call took place while Shirilla was detained at the Cuyahoga County Corrections Center in Ohio. During the conversation, she accused prosecutors of having "henchmen go and lie on the stand," though she did not clarify what she meant.

She also pleaded with her mother to post a $500,000 bond, saying, "I'm getting very irritated like, and I need to get the f*** out of jail because they're just trying to f*** me over bad as f***."
Several days after this call, Shirilla was found guilty of murder, felonious assault, aggravated vehicular homicide, and other charges.
At the time of the crash, Shirilla was 17 years old. Her story is featured in the Netflix documentary "The Crash."
She is currently serving two concurrent sentences of 15 years to life and will be eligible for parole in 2037.
