Madelin Veronica Daly, 36, officially pleaded guilty to first-degree murder charges in the death of her 11-month-old son, Basil Stone, in a crime that occurred inside a haunted trailer in New Mexico.

Court Background and Kidnapping

The events began when Daly failed to appear at court hearings in Wyoming, prompting the judge to issue an order granting temporary custody and care of the child to the father, Jake Stone. Following this, the mother left her residence with the infant and began traveling across multiple states to evade enforcement of the ruling.

Identity Revealed During Job Application

After weeks of moving between remote locations and scattered trailers, Daly applied for a job in the city of "Silver City." During the routine criminal background check conducted by her employer, a foreign court order and an arrest warrant issued against her for child abduction appeared in the system, leading to immediate notification of authorities.

Search and Fatal Incident

Police and investigators moved swiftly upon receiving the alert and located Daly near a trailer park. When confronted, she ran while carrying the infant into an idle trailer and locked the door from the inside. As law enforcement prepared the official search warrant and secured the perimeter, a single gunshot was heard from within the trailer.

Tragic Discovery

After officers breached the scene, Basil Stone was found with a direct gunshot wound to the face from a 9mm pistol, while Daly attempted to point the weapon at her own head in a suicide attempt before being disarmed and immediately subdued.

Shocking Admission in Court

During investigations and court appearances, Daly displayed a striking emotional detachment, confirming that her motive was not protecting the child but inflicting lasting harm on the life of his father, Jake Stone. She stated verbatim: "Jake will never get Basil... even if the rest of my life is worthless, I would do it again just to make sure his family never touches him, and it was worth it."

Daly agreed to plead guilty to first-degree murder to avoid a public criminal trial, now facing a life sentence with the condition that she cannot be paroled before serving at least 30 years in prison.
