Resident Evil Vet Witt Directs Sailing Drama Feathering the Wind

Filmmaker Alexander Witt has been tapped to helm Feathering the Wind, a feature centered on competitive youth sailboat racing. The project brings together a production team led by Christopher Atkins and Michelle Alexandria of Light Year Pictures.

Crew and Production Details

Witt, who works as both director and cinematographer, joins the effort alongside veteran aquatic and aerial specialist Jordan “Jordy” Klein Jr., according to Deadline. Atkins, an actor, producer, and writer, serves as a producer alongside Alexandria.

The director’s background includes decades of blockbuster work. He served as second unit director and cinematographer for Ridley Scott on films such as Gladiator, American Gangster, and Black Hawk Down. His action credits extend to Avengers: Infinity War, The Bourne Identity, Skyfall, Casino Royale, and X-Men: First Class.

This assignment follows Witt’s previous directing roles in the 2004 horror action sequel Resident Evil: Apocalypse and the 2023 Chilean thriller Sayen.

Plot and Producer Vision

Feathering the Wind is described as a coming-of-age story set within the high-speed environment of youth sailing competitions. Producer Atkins characterized the visual approach as “an F1 on the water,” noting that Witt combines sensitivity with significant action experience.

“It’s a timeless coming of age wrapped in incredible high-speed youth sailing sequences... It’s a perfect match,” Atkins stated regarding the collaboration.

Alexandria emphasized the prestige Witt’s portfolio adds to the production. She noted that the intensity and speed of sailing merit big-screen treatment and expressed anticipation for how the director would shape the narrative.

The movie remains in early development stages. Specific details regarding casting, plot elements, and release dates are expected to be announced later.
