Police arrested and handcuffed a male passenger upon landing in Ibiza following a violent mid-air brawl on a Ryanair flight from London Stansted. The incident occurred on October 5, disrupting the descent of the aircraft as holidaymakers witnessed fighting in the aisle.

Sequence of the aerial altercation

Harry Watson, a 28-year-old traveler from Northampton, reported that tensions escalated when a man refused to return to his seat despite the illuminated seatbelt sign. According to Watson, the individual insisted on using the toilet, prompting shouts from other passengers. One person became particularly vocal, which allegedly triggered the initial aggressor to react with violence.

Watson described multiple instances of aggression, noting that the man attacked other passengers and required repeated restraint. Another passenger eventually stood up and struck the aggressor, further intensifying the chaos. A female cabin crew member was visible in footage attempting to intervene, screaming "sit down" as the fight continued in the aisle.

Impact on flight operations

The altercation took place while the plane was preparing to land, causing significant frustration among those on board. Watson stated that the delay forced the aircraft to go back into the air before it could finally descend. The disruption left passengers annoyed, particularly given the proximity to their destination.

Viral footage of the incident accumulated more than 90,000 views online. Spanish National Police were contacted for comment regarding the specific details of the arrest and subsequent legal proceedings.

Ryanair’s official response

A Ryanair spokesperson confirmed that crew members requested police assistance prior to landing due to the disruptive behavior onboard. Authorities met the aircraft at Ibiza Airport, where the offending passenger was removed from the plane.

The airline reiterated its strict zero-tolerance policy against passenger misconduct. Ryanair emphasized its commitment to taking decisive action against unruly behavior to ensure a respectful and stress-free environment for all travelers and crew members.
