Two Dead, 30 Injured in Georgia Shooting at Chaotic Party
Authorities confirm two fatalities and approximately 30 injuries following a shooting incident at a large gathering in Vienna, Georgia.
A shooting incident at a chaotic party in the small town of Vienna, Georgia, has resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to approximately 30 others. Investigators are currently working to determine the precise sequence of events that unfolded during the violence.
Victims Identified by Sheriff
Craig Blevins, the sheriff of Dooly County, identified the deceased as Jaquavion Jackson, 21, from Cordele, and Macaleb Jackson, 23, from Hawkinsville. The medical examiner for Dooly County, Brett Walls, stated that both men were pronounced dead at the scene due to fatal gunshot wounds. Walls described the environment as "horrifying" and noted that numerous other attendees also sustained gunfire injuries.
Scale of Violence and Response
Sheriff Blevins reported that more than 1,000 people had gathered at the location when the shooting began. Over 50 rounds were fired across at least two sites separated by roughly one city block within this rural community, situated approximately 210 kilometers south of Atlanta. Deputies were positioned near the initial scene when the gunfire started; however, additional shots erupted about one block away after law enforcement arrived on site.
Injuries and Ongoing Investigation
The injured victims ranged in age from 14 to 51 years old. They were transported to local hospitals, with some listed in critical condition while others remained stable. Chris Hosey from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed that several of the dozens of wounded suffered from gunshot-related injuries but declined to provide an exact count of those hit by bullets. "We are still trying to work on that," Hosey said.
As of now, authorities have not arrested any suspects, and the motive behind the attack remains unclear.
