Google Maps adds McLaren F1 avatar for US Grand Prix
Google Maps introduces a limited-time McLaren F1 driving avatar to celebrate the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix.

The navigation platform has introduced a temporary visual option allowing users to replace their standard vehicle icon with a McLaren F1 racing car. This update is part of a promotional effort tied to the United States Grand Prix, which will be held in Las Vegas from October 22 through October 25.

Availability and event details
The special avatar remains accessible until November 23, 2026. It serves as an official team representation for the race weekend. Users can swap out the default blue arrow or other available 3D car models for this specific sponsored design.
Device compatibility and settings
This feature functions across multiple interfaces, appearing on both smartphone screens and in-car displays via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. To activate the change, navigate through Google Maps by selecting Settings, then Your vehicles, and finally Driving avatar.
Rollout status
The company confirmed that this is a server-side modification currently being deployed. As such, availability may vary slightly depending on when the update reaches individual accounts.
