2026 is the year Infinity Ward has put Modern Warfare 4 on the board, with a full reveal scheduled for June 4 during Game One of the NBA Finals.

Mark Grigsby and Jack O'Hara, the studio heads at Infinity Ward, confirmed the game in a social media post and called it the studio's "definitive" Modern Warfare. They also described it as a "relentless" experience shaped by the team's attention to detail and quality, while signaling that the marketing campaign is about to begin.

Current-Gen Platforms Only

PS4 and Xbox One will not be supported, according to GameSpot. The game is aimed at PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, leaving out a large installed base on last-generation hardware.

That platform split also gives Infinity Ward room to build without the technical constraints of a 2013-era console. No regional pricing has been announced yet.

Game Pass And Release Window

Microsoft changed its Game Pass policy in April 2026, and new Call of Duty titles are no longer guaranteed to arrive on the subscription service at launch. Modern Warfare 4 will reportedly come to Game Pass about a year after release, around late 2027.

For Xbox players who have been using Game Pass, that means paying full price at launch or waiting. Based on recent Call of Duty releases, a standard edition in the $69.99–$79.99 range is likely, with premium variants to follow.

October Before GTA 6

Reliable leaker CharlieIntel, via GameRant, places the release window in October 2026, one month before GTA 6 is expected in November. The timing is likely deliberate, with Activision expected to want Modern Warfare 4 established before the biggest release of the console generation arrives.

The campaign setting has been rumored to involve the Korean Peninsula, but that has not been officially confirmed and is expected to be detailed at the June 4 reveal.
