Iraqi National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Aboodi confirmed the innocence of 400 Syrians transferred with detainees, alongside strategic framework completion and militia disarmament plans.

Qasim Al-Aboodi, Iraq’s National Security Advisor, disclosed that 400 Syrian nationals were transported into Iraq accompanying detained individuals. He stated that no evidence established their guilt, noting that 50 of them have already been handed over to their home country while the remainder will be transferred in phases.
In a related development, Al-Aboodi confirmed the full implementation of the Strategic Framework Agreement with the United States. He reported that coalition forces completed their withdrawal from Iraqi territory by the end of last September.
The advisor clarified that armed factions signed an agreement with the government to centralize weapons under state control by June of next year. This process includes a three-month confidence-building period during which all military actions must cease completely.
Regarding border security and coordination with Iran, Al-Aboodi emphasized Iraq’s condemnation of any bombardment targeting the Kurdistan Region. He reaffirmed constitutional commitments prohibiting the use of Iraqi land as a transit route for threats against neighboring countries.
He revealed the construction of camps far from the border to house members of the Iranian opposition and their families. The official noted ongoing coordination with the United Nations to accept asylum applications for these groups.
A meeting with the Iranian side is scheduled for October 19 in Baghdad to discuss these specific files.
