The total amount spent by American billionaire Elon Musk to support Republicans before the midterm elections reaches $442 million.

American billionaire Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, provided an additional $76 million to support Republicans during the first two weeks of October, bringing his total donations in this election cycle to more than $442 million.

According to the American magazine Politico, these additional funds that Musk provided to his super political action committee known as "America PAC" make this group one of the largest political committees in this election cycle.

Politico noted that "America PAC" has already spent tens of millions of dollars on digital ads, mailed promotional materials, and text messages, targeting competitive races for the House of Representatives and Senate across the United States.

Musk, who is considered the richest man in the world, has become the largest individual donor ever in this election cycle; his political contributions this year have far exceeded the amount he spent in 2024, which was approximately $290 million.

According to Politico, there is no precedent in modern American history for a donor spending such a large amount of money.

Although the CEO of Tesla has spent huge sums to support Republicans, he did not join the party's candidates on their campaign tours this autumn as he used to do previously.

Some Republicans acknowledged in private conversations that Musk could pose a negative political burden on the party, especially after the Republicans lost an important judicial race in Wisconsin in the spring of 2025, where Musk emerged at that time as the biggest funder of the campaign, even becoming himself a focal point of electoral controversy.

However, Musk's money remained an essential element for Republicans this autumn. Earlier in this cycle, Musk provided $158 million to the Republican arm in the Senate, funds that were later transferred to a super political action committee supporting Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is running a tight Senate race against Democrat James Talarico.

Democrats sought to turn these funds into an electoral issue; Talarico recently responded to an attack launched by Musk via his owned platform X, saying "There is a deep flaw in a political system that allows a single billionaire to buy a member of the US Senate to serve as his personal representative."

Musk also provided donations to the Republican super political action committee in the House of Representatives, and to President Donald Trump's "Make America Great Again" or MAGA committee, as well as to a group seeking to abolish the ranked-choice voting system in Alaska, along with a number of Republican candidates.
