American military transport plane lands at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport

FlightRadar24 flight-tracking data confirmed that a U.S. military transport aircraft landed at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport on Tuesday.

The aircraft was a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III, registered in the United States with tail number 07-7181. It departed directly from Riga, Latvia, and touched down in Moscow at approximately 0700 GMT.

According to Reuters, it remains unconfirmed whether the plane carried cargo or passengers.

The Kremlin responded by stating it held no information regarding the aircraft.

FlightRadar24 records show the same C-17 arrived in Riga on 23 August, having originated from the U.S. Air Force base Camp Springs near Washington, D.C.

The most recent direct flight by a U.S.-registered aircraft to Russia via Europe occurred in January of this year, when special envoys Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner flew to Moscow for peace talks with President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine.

Last week, the Kremlin said it had no information about any further visit by Kushner and Witkoff to Moscow, following the near-total suspension of U.S.-Russia negotiations on Ukraine amid the war in Iran.
