Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan confirmed that weapons, ammunition, and hazardous chemicals are prohibited from transit via the TRIPP route between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that the transport of weapons, ammunition, and hazardous chemical materials is strictly prohibited along the TRIPP ("Trump Route") connecting Armenia and Azerbaijan. The minister clarified these restrictions while presenting the draft agreement concerning the transport route during a session of the foreign relations committee in the Armenian parliament.
Mirzoyan emphasized that there is a clear understanding with Azerbaijan regarding the ban on prohibited shipments, specifically citing arms, munitions, and dangerous chemicals. He noted that an approved list of goods has been agreed upon in international documents involving Armenia and other nations, with Azerbaijan not being an exception to this framework.
The foreign minister added that the transportation of certain categories of cargo will require prior approval. This regulatory detail underscores the controlled nature of logistics along the newly established corridor, ensuring compliance with the agreed-upon security protocols.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the relevant committee within the National Assembly of Armenia approved the draft agreement for the TRIPP route. Four deputies from the ruling "Civil Contract" bloc voted in favor of the document, while a representative from the opposition party "Strong Armenia" cast a vote against it.
The "Armenia" bloc abstained from voting on the project. Following the committee's endorsement, the draft agreement was referred for discussion during the next regular session of the parliament. This procedural step moves the legislation toward final ratification by the full legislative body.
On August 8, 2025, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a joint declaration following a trilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington. The declaration addressed the peaceful settlement between Baku and Yerevan and outlined the creation of a transport corridor between the two Caucasian republics.
The initiative announced that the corridor would be named the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity." Additionally, Armenia granted the United States the right to manage this route for a period of 99 years, establishing a long-term administrative framework for the infrastructure.
