Axios: Netanyahu promised Kushner a pause in Gaza attacks to pave way for Hamas disarmament

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged during a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump's envoy, Jared Kushner, last week, to give the 15-point plan a chance, despite his doubts, and to limit attacks on the Gaza Strip to enable the start of a process to disarm Hamas from the area.

According to Axios, a senior U.S. official said Israel has not carried out any attacks on Gaza since then, while the Israeli military has gradually withdrawn to the yellow line.

The official said the White House is "not bothered" by Netanyahu's statements about the Gaza plan and views them as part of Israel's election season.

He added: "We understand Bibi's political needs, and there's no issue with that as long as he continues doing what we ask, especially regarding controlling attacks in Gaza."

Meanwhile, the United States and mediators continue urging Hamas to begin the disarmament process.
