Ben Gvir and Wife Shoot at Images of Hezbollah, Hamas, and Houthi Leaders at Firing Range (Video)

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir posted a video on his "X" account showing him and his wife during firearms training, while simultaneously showcasing his policy of expanding gun license issuance since taking office.

The training range featured images of figures and leaders from Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthi militia, including Yahya Sinwar, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, Hassan Nasrallah, and Ali Khamenei.

Ben Gvir began the dialogue with his wife by describing the meeting as "a date of another kind," before the conversation shifted to questions and answers regarding the number of gun licenses and the conditions for obtaining them.

According to the clip, Ben Gvir stated that approximately 300,000 new gun licenses were issued during his tenure, emphasizing that obtaining a license is not automatic but requires meeting specific criteria.

He added that more than 200 towns and local communities have been added to the list of areas where residents can apply for gun licenses, as part of expanding eligibility standards that his government began implementing after the October 7 attack.

Data from the Knesset's National Security Committee shows that the number of gun license holders in Israel reached approximately 350,000 in 2026, compared to about 155,000 in 2022, with 180 towns added to the eligible areas list since 2023.

The dialogue in the video touched on training requirements for gun owners, with Ben Gvir noting that training occurs every year and a half. He also said he began modifying gun licensing policies immediately upon taking office, arguing that expanding the circle of those eligible for guns enhances what he described as "personal security."

At the end of the clip, Ben Gvir compared the number of licenses issued during his ministry to what he claimed was the number issued under his predecessor, describing his policy in this area as a "real revolution."
