President Donald Trump said his relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is good, emphasizing that they have several photos together showing them smiling.
Trump made the comment in a post on the Truth Social platform, accompanied by a photo showing the two leaders far from smiling (included below), during Trump’s visit to South Korea and his meeting with Kim at the North Korean border during his first presidential term.
Trump stated that he and the North Korean leader share a "remarkable rapport," according to his wording.
Since Trump returned to the White House in his second presidential term, speculation has intensified about a potential meeting between the two leaders, especially with each of Trump’s visits to Asian countries. A report from American network CNN mentioned internal consultations within the U.S. administration to arrange a possible meeting between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during Trump’s upcoming visit to South Korea, on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.
Speculation resurfaced following Trump’s visit to China last May, but the meeting did not take place, and the White House has not provided clear plans for a potential encounter between Trump and Kim.
