Iranian President Masoud Bzshkiyan stated on Monday that Iran does not seek war but will respond firmly to any aggression, in his first official comment following a U.S. strike on Larak Island near the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian President Masoud Bzshkiyan affirmed on Monday that Iran does not seek war but will respond with firmness to any act of aggression. His remarks constitute the first official Iranian position issued after a U.S. military strike on Larak Island near the Strait of Hormuz.
Bzshkiyan made the statement shortly before departing Tehran for Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. He stressed that Iran has clarified to the international community its non-belligerent stance while underscoring it “will not stand idle in the face of any aggression” and will deliver “a resolute response to aggressors.”
The president warned that continued unrest and instability in the region serve no country’s interests and could pose challenges for all parties involved.
The U.S. strike on Larak Island occurred on Sunday. It marks the first publicly acknowledged American attack on Iranian territory since late July.
Bzshkiyan left Tehran to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit hosted by Bishkek over two days. During the summit, he is scheduled to deliver a speech and hold meetings with Kyrgyz officials and leaders of other participating countries.
