Coordination Framework in Iraq Withdraws Political Cover from Corruption Suspects

The Coordination Framework in Iraq announced that it will not provide political protection to any individual whose involvement in corruption cases is confirmed by judicial authorities, according to a statement released by the official Iraqi News Agency (WAA).

This declaration came during a meeting held at the office of the head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, which was attended by the new Prime Minister, Ali al-Zaidi, along with leaders of the Coordination Framework.

During the meeting, the Framework expressed its support for the outcomes of the Prime Minister's recent visit to the United States, emphasizing backing for the government in implementing the agreements and understandings reached. These efforts aim to enhance Iraq's international standing, preserve its sovereignty and independence in decision-making, develop its economic and security capabilities, attract investments, achieve sustainable development, and create job opportunities for citizens.

According to the statement, the meeting also addressed government measures taken to combat corruption. The Coordination Framework confirmed its full support for the government, the judiciary, and the Integrity Commission in pursuing corruption cases, protecting public funds, recovering stolen money, and holding those involved accountable according to the law.

The Coordination Framework underscored the importance of adhering to legal and judicial procedures and ensuring that all individuals involved, regardless of their affiliations, are included to guarantee the integrity of the anti-corruption campaign.
