Damascus Reveals Truth About Sending Syrian Forces to Yemen
Syria officially denies reports of sending troops to Yemen, affirming its support for Saudi Arabia and prioritizing domestic reconstruction.

Speculation is growing regarding the participation of Syrian forces in military operations in Yemen, before Damascus officially settles its stance on the matter.
The "Al-Ikhbariya Al-Suriya" quoted the External Media Department at the Ministry of Information as stating: "Syria's position is clear; we stand firmly alongside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in confronting threats targeting its security and stability. At the same time, Syria's policy in the region is based on stability, peace, and cooperation, not on opening new fronts."
It added: "Our absolute priority is Syria through rebuilding the country, strengthening its institutions, and working with our partners on reconstruction efforts and improving the living standards of Syrian citizens."
It affirmed that "any military cooperation with partner countries will only take place through official channels and existing bilateral frameworks."
Ahmed Muwaffaq Zidan, the media advisor to the Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic, confirmed the same.
Zidan wrote on his account on the X platform: "The security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the security of the Gulf are part of Syria's security. We in Damascus stand with our people in the Land of the Two Holy Mosques with all strength and firmness. However, what some media outlets are circulating about the Kingdom requesting the deployment of Syrian forces to Saudi Arabia or Yemen is a lie and has no basis."
The American website "Axios" had reported that Riyadh and Damascus are holding talks regarding "sending Syrian forces to Yemen to join the counter-offensive against the Houthis."
According to what the site cited from American officials, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa "is seriously considering the matter but has not yet made a final decision," adding that "the Trump administration was consulted by both countries, and it does not fundamentally oppose such a step." This was not officially confirmed by Washington.
On Friday, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad al-Alimi, called on Yemenis to mobilize generally, engage in national rallying, rally around the armed forces and security, join their ranks through official channels, and contribute to confronting the Houthi militias.
The Chairman of the Leadership Council also announced, in a speech marking the "anniversary of the September 26 Revolution," the opening of the door for safe return to the ranks of the Republic and constitutional legitimacy, stemming from the state's responsibility to stop the bloodshed of Yemenis, end the war, and prevent acts of revenge and retaliation.
