DP World launches war risk insurance system
DP World has launched a war risk insurance solution to support businesses facing rising disruptions in Middle East trade routes.

DP World has introduced a war risk insurance solution aimed at helping companies navigate growing disruptions affecting Middle East trade corridors. The move addresses challenges in the traditional insurance sector, including rising costs, uneven coverage options, and difficulty securing policies.
Developed with an understanding of logistics operations and their interconnected nature, the system provides continuous, comprehensive coverage across the entire supply chain—from sea or air freight, through port storage, to land transport and final delivery. It fills gaps left by conventional insurance documents, which typically cover only one segment of a shipment's journey.
Leveraging global networks for competitive pricing
Beyond offering an insurance umbrella, DP World used its established position and strategic weight to tap its extensive network of global insurance markets. This secured exclusive, competitive rates significantly lower than traditional war risk premiums, giving clients an economic advantage while supporting business continuity and operational efficiency.
This step is about solving a real and pressing problem facing global trade today; supply chains do not stop at port boundaries or coastlines, and it is illogical for the insurance umbrella to stop there. For the first time, cargo owners can rely on a single insurance document guaranteeing exceptional protection for their shipments throughout their entire journey, even in the most dangerous environments and regions. This reflects our commitment to ensuring the sustainability of trade flow in times when we need it most,
said Yuvraj Narayan, CEO of DP World.
Loss protection and claim settlement
The system offers the highest levels of protection against physical losses or damages from war-related risks, including conflicts, civil unrest, confiscation, and abandoned weapons. All claims meeting conditions will be settled without any deductions or additional fees, underscoring confidence in the solution's effectiveness.
The program is available to all companies operating in or through the Middle East, designed as a foundation to ensure supply chain continuity across the world's most vital trade routes, including the Arabian Gulf, the Red Sea, and surrounding land roads.
Flexible insurance options
It offers a diverse range of insurance options:
- Comprehensive protection covering the shipment from origin by air or sea through to final delivery at its land destination.
- Independent insurance documents allowing standalone coverage for sea, air, or land transport.
- Automatic coverage for port storage operations for up to 14 days.
- High coverage limits, reaching $400 million per shipment and $1 million per land transport operation.
Through this flexible and innovative approach, DP World provides cargo owners with a strategic tool enabling rapid response to changing routes and operational conditions, enhancing business continuity and elevating the efficiency, reliability, and safety of their operations.
