Government data released yesterday confirmed that Ebola virus infections in the Democratic Republic of Congo have climbed to 3,973 cases, with 1,801 fatalities. Health authorities are confronting one of the most complex Ebola outbreaks in recent years.

WHO Director-General’s Field Visit

During a field visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo, World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus called for intensified efforts to combat Ebola. He emphasized protecting health workers, who serve as the first line of defense against the outbreak. He stressed the need for logistical and medical support to sustain isolation and contact tracing operations, warning that any decline in response levels could lead to wider infection spread.
