Egypt Signs Defense Cooperation MoU with Bosnian Firm Brits

Egypt has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Bosnian company Brits to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the defense industry, paving the way for industrial partnerships, technical expertise sharing, and exchange of technological capabilities.

The signing ceremony took place on 4 September—the final day of the “First Balkan Shield – Defence Industry Expo and Summit 2026” held in Sarajevo from 1 to 4 September. Dr. Eng. Salah Soliman Jambalat, Egypt’s Minister of State for Military Production, attended the event in person.

Formalities occurred at the Ministry of Military Production’s exhibition pavilion, underscoring a strategic effort to reinforce collaborative frameworks in defense industrial development and advance opportunities for industrial integration between the two sides.

Minister Outlines Strategic Objectives

Jambalat stated that the MoU aims to broaden cooperation with Bosnia, enabling both parties to mutually leverage their respective manufacturing capacities, technical expertise, and technological resources.

He emphasized that the agreement aligns with the Ministry of Military Production’s broader policy to widen its international partnership network and open new channels of collaboration with counterpart firms in friendly countries—supporting future industrial and commercial joint ventures.

The minister noted that cooperation with Brits serves to enhance Egypt’s presence in global defense markets, highlighting the diversified manufacturing capabilities and accumulated experience of Egypt’s military production companies, which enable them to produce equipment meeting international quality standards and technical specifications.

Brits Commends Egyptian Capabilities

Brits expressed appreciation for the manufacturing and technological capacities of companies under Egypt’s Ministry of Military Production and conveyed its interest in expanding cooperation domains and maximizing mutual benefit from available expertise on both sides.

The MoU comes as Cairo seeks to broaden its defense industry partnership network and harness international collaboration to upgrade domestic manufacturing capacity, transfer technology, and absorb specialized know-how.

According to publicly available information, the memorandum does not specify a defined joint defense manufacturing program or identify any particular military product. Instead, it establishes a framework for advancing industrial and technical cooperation, potentially laying groundwork for more concrete, targeted partnerships in the coming period.

The initiative carries added significance for Egypt amid its ongoing efforts to diversify sources of defense technology, deepen ties with foreign firms, and simultaneously develop local industrial infrastructure and expand export opportunities into new markets.
