The former Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, passed away on July 12, 2026, at the age of 74, the Qatari Amiri Diwan announced.
The Qatari Amiri Diwan announced the death of the former Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, on Sunday at the age of 74.
In an official statement, the Amiri Diwan said: "With hearts believing in God's decree and destiny, the Amiri Diwan mourns the loss of the great nation's late leader, may God have mercy on him, His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who passed away this morning on 27 Muharram 1448, corresponding to July 12, 2026, at the age of 74."
