French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot called on the US and Iran to end an unbearable situation by signing a preliminary peace agreement soon.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot urged the United States and Iran on Friday to take advantage of an opportunity to conclude what he described as an "unbearable situation" by signing a preliminary peace agreement. A senior US administration official indicated that such an agreement is imminent.
In an interview with the LCI channel, Barrot said, "We call on both sides to seize this opportunity to end an unbearable situation that results only in losers... This is what I told my Iranian counterpart."
Barrot added that he spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Friday morning. "I am cautious, but positive signs are increasing. I feel that both sides have the will to reach this agreement," he stated.
Earlier on Friday, Abbas Araghchi announced that reaching a memorandum of understanding with the United States is closer than ever before. However, he urged the media to refrain from speculating about its contents until it is finalized.
Araghchi posted on the X platform that Iran will share all details with its people at the appropriate time, emphasizing Tehran's responsible and transparent approach.
