Greece Relocates Patriot Battery to Crete Amid Iran Tensions

Greece has relocated a Patriot air-defense battery from the island of Karpathos to the island of Crete, according to sources cited by the Greek newspaper Kathimerini. The move aims to strengthen air defenses around the strategically significant Souda Bay region.

The transfer included both personnel and equipment and took place overnight. The battery is expected to be deployed near the Souda military base.

Athens’ decision follows public threats issued by senior Iranian officials against U.S. military installations in Europe. The relocation forms part of an ongoing state of high alert maintained by Greece’s Ministry of National Defence and its armed forces.
