US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth published on Friday an image showing the collapse of a tower in Iran's Chabahar port, coinciding with continued US strikes inside Iran and escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran.

Hegseth republished the image via his official account on the "X" platform, and attached it with a comment saying: "Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz," directing his message to the US Marine Corps (USMC) and US Central Command (CENTCOM).

The US Defense Secretary did not provide any additional information about the image, nor did he clarify the date it was taken or whether the tower collapse was caused by the recent US strikes.

Hegseth's post comes after the US Central Command "CENTCOM" announced the completion of the sixth night of military operations against Iran.

"CENTCOM" confirmed that the strikes targeted dozens of military sites, including coastal surveillance facilities, air defense systems, logistical infrastructure, in addition to Iranian naval capabilities.

Iranian media had earlier reported hearing explosions in the city of Chabahar, without any official announcement regarding the extent of damage or the sites that were targeted.
