Iran: Armed Clashes and Attack Target Intelligence Building
Armed clashes erupted between security forces and militants in southeastern Iran's Sistan-Baluchestan province, coinciding with a separate attack on an intelligence building.
On Friday, armed clashes occurred between military and security forces and militants in the city of Rask, located in the southeastern Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan. This happened concurrently with reports of an armed attack targeting a building belonging to the intelligence agency in the Taftan area.
The Iranian news agency "Tasnim" confirmed that an armed clash took place between Revolutionary Guard forces and elements described as belonging to a "terrorist group" in one of the villages of Rask city. It noted that security forces are continuing operations to sweep the area and verify developments in the situation.
According to local reports, the clashes began around the villages of Bedeld and "Shushgim" at approximately 5:30 AM local time on Friday and lasted for several hours, amid sounds of gunfire and explosions in the region.
Iranian authorities have not yet announced an official toll of human casualties resulting from the clashes, while Tasnim stated that additional details would be released after the results of the operation became clear.
In a separate development in the same province, the local website "Halvash" reported that unidentified gunmen targeted a building belonging to the intelligence administration in Nok Abad, a town in the Taftan district, with firearms, noting that an explosion was heard during the attack.
Video clips published by the site showed traces of gunfire at the entrance of the building, while the extent of casualties or damage remains unclear so far.
