Iran summons Norwegian envoy over Starlink operations
Tehran summoned Norway’s ambassador to protest unauthorized satellite internet activities and alleged Oslo inaction regarding Starlink.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned Paul Bjørnestad, the Norwegian ambassador in Tehran, to lodge a formal protest against what it described as Oslo’s failure to address unauthorized activities by the Starlink satellite internet network within Iran’s borders.
Allegations of foreign interference
During the meeting, Reza Hosni Najad, the Director-General for Peace and International Security at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, accused the United States and Israel of exploiting the Starlink system for interventionist actions against Iran. He demanded that Norway take immediate and effective measures to halt these activities.
Hosni Najad stated that Norway, as the country where the Starlink network is registered with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), bears an obligation to prevent the network’s unauthorized broadcasting inside Iran. This requirement stems from decisions made by the ITU’s Radio Regulations Board.
Diplomatic response and protests
The official noted that Tehran had repeatedly raised the issue but received no effective response from the Norwegian side. The Iranian capital handed the ambassador a formal note of protest detailing these grievances.
No comment has been issued by the Norwegian side regarding the summons or the allegations as of this report.
