Iran has threatened to target US-linked technological infrastructure, including submarine internet cables and data centers, if attacks against it resume.

Iran has threatened to target technology infrastructure linked to the United States in the region should attacks against it resume, a threat that includes submarine internet cables for the second time within hours.
A spokesperson for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued an implicit warning regarding internet cables running beneath the Strait of Hormuz, noting that seven major cables pass through the strait, supporting global internet traffic and commercial data flows.
The spokesperson clarified: "America knows there are new targets," referring to the strategic importance of these cables and the potential consequences on communications and global data movement if they were targeted.
This came after Tehran had previously hinted at the possibility of targeting internet cables, data centers, and AI facilities linked to the United States in the region, should it face a new attack.
Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, stated in an interview with Press TV that the United States has placed valuable technological assets in West Asia, including data centers and artificial intelligence facilities. He added: "We have not yet included these assets among our targets. But if war breaks out, many of these cables, data centers, AI facilities, and other sites will be destroyed."
