Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi responded early Thursday morning to statements by British Prime Minister Andy Burnham regarding Iran's alleged role in the security incident that occurred at the British RAF Fairford air base.

In a post on the "X" platform, Araghchi stated that Burnham said the British government could confirm its belief in Iran's involvement in the Fairford base incident, adding: "I can also confirm Iran's belief that the release of individuals who are said to be terrorists and work for foreign governments reveals a lot. You are looking for the wrong party to blame."

British Prime Minister Burnham had earlier said there were "strong indications and evidence" of Iran's involvement in the incident.

The British Counter Terrorism Police arrested five young men aged between 23 and 25 on Sunday, all British citizens residing in London, on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts, before releasing them on bail the following day.

Fairford Base is located in the British county of Gloucestershire and is considered one of the strategic bases belonging to NATO and the United States. Britain had previously allowed the use of bombers stationed there to carry out strikes against targets in Iran.
