An Iranian parliament official announced that a request to interrogate Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has been registered, citing unauthorized contact with US officials. A confidence vote for defense minister candidate Mehrdad Akhlaghi is expected on October 18.

Iranian Parliament Presiding Board member Mohammad Rashidi told Tasnim News Agency today, Tuesday, October 6, that the request to interrogate Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi was registered in the parliamentary legislation and oversight system but has not yet been referred to the Presiding Board. This request comes against the backdrop of Minister Araghchi's communication with American officials without permission from Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
Rashidi added that the session to grant confidence to Mehrdad Akhlaghi, the government's nominee for the Ministry of Defense, is likely to be held on October 18.
He noted that the government still has time to submit its candidate for the position of Oil Minister, while it does not have much time to name an Intelligence Minister and must present its candidate to the Parliament within the specified deadline.
